Department of Botany

About Department

The department of Botany was established in 1994 - 95 to promote education in the area of plant science. It aims to provide opportunity for training in basic and applied aspects of plants science. The syllabus of B.Sc. course is framed based on UGC CBCS guidelines. The syllabus includes Study of Algae, fungi, bryophytes,Pteridophytes, Angiosperms, Cytology, Genetics, plantPhysiology, plant biochemistry, biotechnology etc.,The syllabus comprises sixsemesters. the department has specialized in plant physiology, plant Taxonomy and plant pathology. The department has rare collection in plants photography of plants belonging to different groups of plants. Two our faculties are participated and presented research articles in National and international conferences. The department present has to associate professor and one assistant professor, one of our faculty is engaged in active research and he is working as research guide for Ph.D. students

Vision

By making use of local botanical environment, the department we promote the knowledge of Botany among the students by organizing various activities and also by curricula

Mission

The mission is to run courses in Botany prescribed by S. U.Kolhapur to provide coaching to the students of socially weaker sections of the society and to provide facilities tojob oriented short-term courses in Botany
