Department of Zoology
About Department
The Department of Zoology was established in 1994-95 to promote education in the area of Animal Science. It aims to provide opportunity for training in basic and applied aspects of Animal Science and to promote independent thinking and empowering students for career prospects in taxonomy and systematics, classical and modern genetics, cell and developmental biology, physiology, morphology, animal behavior, ecology, wildlife biology, ornithology and entomology. The syllabus of B.Sc. course is framed based on UGC CBCS guidelines and comprises of six semesters of fifth months duration each. The department procure the equipment’s required to canter to the needs of teaching. The Department has specialized expertise in ornithology, freshwater biology and applied zoology, and rare collection of insects, photography of aquatic birds and a good collection of Cockroach, Rat for biological experiments. The Department offers B.Sc. course. During last five years we have organized one national level conference and three university level workshops. Two of our faculties are participated and presented research articles in international conferences outside India. The department at present has two associate professor and one assistant professor. The non-teaching staff include laboratory Assistant and a laboratory Attendant
Vision
The department envisions a scholar community committed to translate the knowledge they gain and generate for the well-being of the humanity and the biodiversity, in which the Department plays its pivotal role of a modern organization
Mission
To further our knowledge on the intricacies of animal world through, education and outreach
