About Department

The Dept. of Sociology was established in 1992. This subject is taught up to second year only. For this, there is a full time faculty appointed. Sociology Department always intends to equip rural students irrespective of class with updated knowledge about contemporary social issues to face challenges of the changing scenario at local and global level.To acquaint the students with basic knowledge of Sociology, to enable the students to understand basic social strata, to convey carrier opportunities in Sociology and to imbibe human and democratic values among the students etc. are objectives of Sociology Department. The department has been established with the commitment of the college with the courses. At present the department runs interdisciplinary subject and optional courses for B.A. Course up to second level.

Vision

To impart the students knowledge regarding different social institutions and to create awareness about different social issues among the rural students.

Mission

To run the courses in Sociology prescribed by the Shivaji University.

INTRODUCTION TO SOCIOLOGY Paper-l

Course Objectives: - the course aims to introduce basic knowledge of Sociology it focuses on cultivating basic knowledge through understandingand analysis of the fundamental concepts in Sociology.

Learning Outcomes :-at the end of this course students are expected to have a holistic understanding of fundamenta introduce to basic knowledge of Sociology and thereby be able to understand human related issues.

PRINCIPLES OF SOCIOLOGY Paper- ll

Course Objectives: the course aims to introduce basic Principles of Sociology it focuses on cultivating basic knowledge through understanding and analysis of the fundamental concepts in Sociology.

Learning Outcome : At the end of this course students are expected to have a holistic understanding of fundamental concepts of Principles of Sociology and thereby be able to understand human related issues.

SOCIAL PROBLEMS IN INDIA –Paper-IV

Course Objective: The course aims to introduce to the bring awareness and sensitivity among thestudents towards social problems. It focuses on cultivating basic knowledge through understanding of the inculcate responsibilities and promote equality.

Outcomes: At the end of this course students are expected to have a holistic understanding of social current issues will be introduced aware of the social problems in the human society related issues.

SOCIAL PROBLEMS IN CONTEMPORARY INDIA-VI

Course Objective: The course aims to introduce to the bring awareness and sensitivity among thestudents towards contemporary issues. It focuses on cultivating basic knowledge through understanding of the inculcate responsibilities and promote equality.
